A fundamental principal of PBS is that all decisions regarding the effectiveness of disciplinary practices or the need for additional behavioral supports should be made based on relevant data. PBS Teams must become adept at reviewing a variety of discipline data including: Office Referral, suspension, and expulsion.
Typically as teams become more sophisticated in analyzing and responding to data, they begin to seek out additional data to inform their decisions. This information generally includes: program evaluation and survey results, audits, observations, walkthroughs, and interviews. When teams come to the realization that "everything is data" they will know that PBS is becoming deeply embedded into their thought processes.
This page provides a number of resources to assist teams in reviewing and responding to data. Because data-based decision making is a process which drives implementation of all PBS units, it is structured somewhat differently.
